Leadership through difficult terrain — the marshalling of people and resources toward a necessary struggle. This hexagram is about discipline, clear command and the moral authority to lead others through something hard. Victory is possible, but only if the leader has genuine trust and a just cause.
The image. Water contained within earth — a hidden power, disciplined and ready to move.
Guidance
Lead with clear purpose and earn the real trust of those following you. Discipline without cruelty and a cause worth the cost are the only foundations that hold.
How it’s built
Every hexagram is two trigrams — the lower one beneath the upper. This one is Kǎn below Kūn.
