Rielle Thornsong
the Silverthorn Elf
Rielle, from the old word for silver, and Thornsong, from the rite of singing to briars until they blossom with metallic edges.
Silverveil — you can draw shadow and silver into a tangible cloak that muffles all sound and light around you, but each use leaves a thorn-sharp ache behind your eyes that lasts until the next dusk.
- Familiar
- a silver-veined adder named Sliver
- House
- House Silverbriar
Every dusk, you walk the briar boundary and run your thumb along each thorn, reciting the names of the things that have died in this grove. The adder follows at your heel, tongue flicking to the rhythm of your voice. The thorns remember, and so do you — though the silver has begun to fleck your hair, and the song is the only thing that keeps the names from blurring.
