Saelith Dawnshield
the Emberveil Elf
Saelith means 'blessed fire' in Old Sylvan, and Dawnshield was the name given to the first warden of the morning line, who stood at the edge of night and refused to let the dark spill over.
Dawnkindling — at the first light of day, you can breathe a spark into any dead thing, and for that hour it will live again, but only with the memory of what it once was, and only if you let a little of your own heat go into it.

You were mending a broken lantern when the first ember of dawn caught the wick you had not yet lit, and the flame bloomed gold, then white, then the color of the sky just before the sun shows its face. You have not needed flint since. You carry the lantern still, though its glass is cracked, because you remember the exact weight of the moment that chose you.
