Aithne Nettlegleam
the Cinderbloom Fairy
Named for the small fire that burns inside a nettle's stem and the gold-edged petal that closes over a secret.
You can coax a nettle to bloom into a marigold, and in doing so make a truth bloom from a liar's mouth — but the cost is a single ash-flake on your tongue that tastes of what you yourself have hidden.
- Familiar
- a fire-blackened cricket named Ember
- Court
- the Gilded Thorn Court
You will never light a candle from another's flame — that is the rule you keep because the first time you did, a nettle's seed turned to gold and burned someone's house down. You have worn marigold petals in your hair ever since, a warning to yourself. The nettles came to you not as a garden but as a promise: they would sting anyone you named, and glow for those you didn't.
