Ivor Ghastwraith
the Moon-Eaten Count
Named for the cratered face of the full moon and the grey ash that falls from it, Ivor Ghastwraith was never born — only found by a light that consumes and leaves nothing but hunger.
You read the truth in moonlight reflected on ash — any lie told under the moon's face shows as a crack in the ash's surface, and you may step through that crack into the liar's memory; but each use costs you a memory of your own, one you will never recover.

'I never asked for the moon,' you said, and that was the last word to leave your throat as the ash fell. You woke in a circle of grey, your own reflection split in a puddle of silver. The thing that made you was gone, but it left you with a taste of burnt bone and a hunger for what slips between truths.
