Marek Cinderstone
the Ash-Gibbous Count
Named for the moon-burned stones that cool to dust at dawn, and for the hollow echo of footsteps that leaves no mark.
You draw down the moon's light onto any surface of ash, and it cools and hardens into a mirror that shows you the last thing the ash witnessed before it was scattered – but each reflection costs a memory you hold dear.

- House Emberwrought
Every dusk you sweep the hearth clean of the previous night's cinders, humming a tune you half-remember from a language you no longer speak. You line the new ash in concentric circles like a tiny moon on the stone floor. You have been doing this for three centuries, and the hearth has never once produced a flame – only ash, cool and grey. You suspect that is your doing, but you cannot quite recall.
