‘You’ll not find him there,’ the old woman said, pointing to the larch grove. You had been digging for roots, but the moon was full and the shadows were long. When you lifted your head, the larch had grown around your shovel, and a voice not yours spoke from the bark. You answered it, and have been answering ever since.
Where the name comes from
Lazarus — “God has helped”; the raised one.
Larchreach — Larch (the larch) + reach (river-reach).
