Tansy Nettlebriar
the Bitterthorn Witch
Named for the sharp taste of tansy and the sting of nettle, born of the edge between living green and bone-white root.
Bone-stitching — you draw shadows into threads and bind them to fractures in bone, mending what was broken in living things and dead.

Every dusk you walked the field edge where nettle and briar grew thick, pulling the yellow tansy heads and crushing them between your fingers for the smell. The shadows pooled at your feet like ink. One evening you knelt by a dead rabbit, its ribs splintered, and without thinking you pulled the gathering dark into a thread and sewed them shut. The rabbit stirred once, then stilled — but the bone had knit.
Tansy — a bitter golden hedge-flower.
Nettlebriar — Nettle + briar (briar-patch).
