The judgment
The first movement of return — the winter solstice, the first stirring of light after darkness. Something that has been lost, suppressed or dormant is beginning to come back. This is not yet strong, but it is genuine and it is the real beginning; the turning has started.
The image. Thunder stirs beneath the earth — the first movement of what was perfectly still.
Guidance
Welcome the first signs of return without forcing them — what is coming back needs gentle encouragement, not a blaze of attention. The turning is real; trust it and tend it.
How it’s built
Every hexagram is two trigrams — the lower one beneath the upper. This one is Zhèn below Kūn.

☳Lower · Thunderthe Arousing — movement, shock, a sudden beginning, the eldest son
