Rilthil Whitesong
the Embermote Elf
Rilthil is the old word for 'ember tear'—a bead of molten glass that forms when a forge-fire is quenched too fast; Whitesong comes from the pale, whistling note a dying fire makes as its last heat escapes.
Emberbinding — you can slow a fire's spread with a touch, but the heat must go somewhere; it settles into your marrow, and you sleep colder each night, and the ache in your hands tells you when rain is coming.

- House Whitesong
You keep a single blackened coin, still faintly warm, from the last hearthfire your house let die. It was pressed into your palm by a hand that turned to ash before your eyes, and you have not built a fire since that you did not first ask its permission. The salamander curls around it when you sleep.
