You first knew it on a Tuesday in late August, while crushing dried nettles over a dying stove. A spark leapt from the bowl and did not burn your hand — instead it curled around your fingers, smelling of rosemary and clay. The nettles began to glow from within, and you understood the green could burn differently.

Elowen — Cornish for “elm tree”.
