Sylas Cinderwick
the Ashwood Warlock
Named for the forest’s ash and the smoking wick of a burnt-out candle.
You call the green from cinders — in dead soil you find the first sprout, and in cold hearths you stir the sleeping flame.
- Familiar
- a stoat named Soot

- Ashwood
You will not burn a living thing for your craft — that much you swore. But the cost is that embers must come from something, and so you gather the cold ash of old fires, the char of storm-felled trees, the spent wick of a candle that burned itself out. One night, scouring the forest floor, you found a stoat curled in a pile of blackened pine needles, its fur dusted with soot. It opened one eye, and you knew it was yours.
Sylas — “of the forest”.
Cinderwick — Cinder (cinders) + wick (homestead).
